Where to Eat and Drink

You have decided to go on a Costa Rica golf vacation. You book your hotel, use our online reservations to book your rounds but what places is there to go eat or have a drink? I have compiled a list of not so well known places that the common tourist guide is not going to tell you about. These places are close to the golf courses that you are going to playing and can be visited after your round of golf.

San Jose Area Golf Courses

Tiquicia Restaurant

After playing any San Jose Costa Rica golf course like Cariari or Valle del Sol, we recommend going to Tiquicia restaurant in the Escazu mountains. This place offers an awesome mile high panoramic view of San Jose. The food is also really good traditional Costa Rica food. Go early because it fills up on weekends. Location: San Antonio de Escazu.

Hooters
What? Hooters? Yes, Hooters Costa Rica in the Escazu area is as redneck as in USA (we love rednecks) but with a Costa Rica twist. Please keep in mind that I am a Hooters fan and have visited more than forty Hooters. Location: Plaza Itzcazu in Escazu.

Mas Tekila Bar Restaurant
In the same building as Hooters, you will find where the beautiful ticas go to party. Mas Tekila is my favorite place in San Jose to go out. There are beautiful women and a great atmosphere. Ultra chic, go well dressed and you will have a great time.

Chancay
Just steps from Hooters and Mas Tekila is my favorite seafood restaurant in San Jose. Chancay is a trendy restaurant that offers Peruvian food - if you like seafood, go to Chancay.

Marriott Los Suenos Area

Villa Caletas
Close to the Marriott Los Suenos golf resort is Villa Caletas - a french boutique hotel has a view that will leave you speechless. Go after your round and have a drink at the amphiteather while you see the sunset. You will be surrounded by the rainforest, sloths, monkeys, while looking at the ocean from a cliff and listening to 2001 Space Oddisey. I have tried to take pictures so I can share it with everyone, but a photo does not make it justice. You have to go and experience this awesome view. This is our #1 rated place to go.

BackYard bar
About 20 minutes from Marriott Los Suenos, the Backyard in Playa Hermosa is a cool place that plays carribean music and is great place to just hang out at a beach bar. It is a locals place but keep in mind that the locals are surfers from all over the world. Location: Playa Hermosa.

Mata Limon Restaurant
About 30 minutes from theMarriott Los Suenos (Photos), you will find a seafood mecca in Mata Limon. This is another locals restaurant that has delicious ceviche, lobster, jumbo shrimp at ridicously low prices. Location: In front of the port of Caldera in Puntarenas.

Guanacaste Golf Courses

Happy Snapper Restaurant
About 1 mile from Reserva Conchal(Video) and close toHacienda Pinilla golf course is the seafood mecca called Happy Snapper. I love this place because the Jumbo Coconut Shrimp or the excellent breakfasts served. This place is located in the town of Brasilito and is a hang out for the local American community. Location: Between Conchal and Flamingo beach.

Ceviche place near Flamingo
Just 10 minutes from Reserva Conchal and nearly at Flamingo beach, you will find a little beach restaurant in Potrero beach. This place is small but stay for the sunset and eat a ceviche while drinking a nice cold Imperial beer. The view is amazing and 100% guaranteed photo worthy. Location: Potrero Beach, 1 mile from Flamingo Beach in Guanacaste.

Camaron Dorado
Right beside the Happy Snapper, the Camaron Dorado is more Costa Rican restaurant. Great food like the fried fish, jumbo shrimp and seafood rice. Location: 10 yards from Happy Snapper.
