Just an hour from San Jose and 10 minutes from Jaco, you will find the Marriott Los Suenos resort - home of the La Iguana golf course.

About the course: The La Iguana golf course at Marriott Los Suenos is one of my favorite courses in Costa Rica. It has a nice mix of short and long holes, wide fairways and sneaky hard par 3s. The most attractive thing about the course is the location – the rainforest. You literally see monkeys, macaws and other exotic animals. You also get to hit approach shots with the rainforest as the background. The colors are so vivid that I find myself stopping several times a round to absorb the scenery.Like these pictures?

The Marriott Los Suenos resort is the premier resort in the mid-Pacific portion of Costa Rica due to its great fishing, beautiful hotel and golf course. The resort also boasts many lodging options other than the hotel. You will find at six types of condos including the Bella Vista, Marbella, Colina, Del Mar, and Hemingway options. Each has a different price point so that tourists of all budgets can stay at the resort.

There are also villas available for rent - these normally are for larger groups of couples, groups of friends or for corporate events. The smallest is three bedrooms and go all the way up to six bedroom house perched on the mountain side with spectacular views of Playa Herradura and the Marriott Los Suenos resort and marina. I highly recommend staying at these villas or condos instead of the hotel - each have private pools, and access to the Los Suenos beach club. My favorite hole is the first hole, par 5 500+ yard collection of tropical sounds and perfectly manicured fairway. There are several par 4s that tease you into shooting the green with your driver – only to lose your ball in the heavy jungle after a slight (my opinion it was slight) hook.
